The team is Coach Directed and has a small parent group of volunteers who oversee the operations of the program.
What Makes The Frogs Swim Team Special:
- We encourage a swimmer to try their best.
- We display positive team spirit and sportsmanship at all times.
- We provide positive, constructive feedback.
- We foster a Positive Swimming Environment in which respect of swimmers by coaches, respect of coaches by swimmers, respect between parents, respect between parents and coaches and respect of swimmers for other swimmers will always be reinforce
- We display good Sportsmanship at all times…in victory or defeat.
SWIM EVALUATIONS AND PLACEMENT
All new swimmers are evaluated for placement on the team. The minimum requirement is the ability to swim one length of the pool on either their front or back. The practice groups are divided by age and the head coach reserves the right to move swimmers between practice groups based upon ability and space provided.
When assigning practice groups, both age and ability are taken into consideration (see "Requirements" under the "Team Information" tab for more information). Every effort is made to place each swimmer in the appropriate group at the beginning of the season; however, changes may be necessary and are at the discretion of the coaching staff.
Requirements
WHO CAN JOIN THE FROGS?
Registration is open to all children in the area regardless of location of primary residence.
Swimmers must be at least 5 by June 1st of the current competition year and are eligible to participate through age 18 or through the summer following their high school senior year.
The swimmer's age for the entire season is determined by their age as of June 1st of the current season.
IS MY CHILD READY FOR SWIM TEAM?
For the safety of all our swimmers, children must be comfortable in and around the water prior to joining the team. Your child is NOT expected to know every stroke, but they do need to have a foundation of swim skills the coaches can build upon. These skills include the ability to:
- submerge mouth & nose
- bob
- float on their front and back
- lift themselves out of the pool
- jump into the water & return to the wall unassisted
Along with these skills, the following criteria must be met in order to participate on the team:
Swimmers ages 5-10: Swim 25 yards (one length of the pool) unassisted and without stopping.
Swimmers 11 & older:
Swim 50 yards (two lengths of the pool) unassisted and without stopping
WHAT ARE MY OTHER OPTIONS?
Swim lessons may be offered by the coaches prior to the beginning of the season, during, and after the season has ended. Contact the head coach for more information.
